What is Skill Education :
Skill education is an education related to professional skills. It can be anything which gives you a professional edge to start work. Today globally every country is trying to work more on skill education as they have changed their education system and have added skill education into their current syllabus and it is helping them to create more entrepreneurs, whereas in India even today skill education is considered as a vocational or short-term training on any professional activity which helps them to get at least a job.
Value of Skill Education:
When we are talking about the value of skill education here, I want to remind you about a time few years ago when people were learning few technical skills from small shops like Automobile Mechanic, Welder, or any other technical mechanics for other machineries. Then time flies and now some more skills were added into skill education like typing, shorthand, computer courses also came under vocational trainings. Them with time computer knowledge goes on boom and with that some courses on virtual technology also started and came under Vocational Trainings.
Since last few years in India our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narender Modi ji are also focusing on Skill
Education and to enhance the interest of public in skill education they have already started some special schemes for the same like “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana”. Our government has also declared some special schemes for Women under Vocational Trainings and people are taking benefit of the same. From a survey we have came to know that more than 8 Lakhs people had been benefited from these schemes and are living a wealthy life today as they became workable after learning new skills.
How to Minimize Gap between Education and Industry Requirements:
As COVID-19 almost every country and every person who was in a working age they cam to know that degrees/Certificates can take you towards the path of success but to lead on the success ladder you have to update yourself with demanding skills also. So people started learning online and a survey says that COVID-19 period was the most used time for online learning on such skills. While schools/Colleges/Offices were closed students were doing online learning but with that parent also started learning through internet. But still there is big gap between Industry requirements and our formal education system, while other countries are focusing to adopt and include Skills education in their formal education curriculum India also needs to take some strong action on the same. We are still teaching students in Schools and Colleges with that old pattern and old syllabus where as now this is an need of the hour to add such skills based education in to our school/College education curriculum, so that students should learn those skills while completing their formal education itself.
