“Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference. If the money we donate helps one child access good quality children’s books or can make a child believe in their dreams, those funds are well spent. ”
Numerous studies estimate that as many as one in five children have difficulties learning to read. Reading has been associated as an early indicator of academic success. Public formal education does not typically start until ages 5-6. Before then, parents and caregivers are the first education providers during the 0-5 early critical years. In Santa Rita, a 3rd class municipality in Samar, Philippines with recent statistics shows poverty incidence at 44.95%, children from disadvantaged family has no access to good quality children’s books.
While we already started raising funds for the books, we need your help to acquire a vehicle that will serve as the mobile library. Your support is key in solving this problem.
You can help us bring early literacy to more or less 4000 children and promote reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers while teaching parents the importance of early literacy and promote parent-child bonding through reading. Mobile library is not unique but what makes this project special is the reading program and it targets a specific age group, 0 - 5 years old.
100% of your donation will go to the Usa ka Yukot nga Libro para han Mainuswagon nga Bungto (1000 Books for a Progressive Town), an early literacy reading program designed after 1000 Books before Kindergarten. You can make your donations through the GoFundMe account organized by one of our team member based in Sweden, https://gofund.me/e2473c8a .
Rest assured that our team is committed to deliver the project with high standards and transparency all throughout the duration of the fundraising and delivery of the program. All funds are directed to the GoFundMe account and all expenditures will be shared to the public through excel. More information and updates are provided in the social media accounts of the project.
We are looking forward for your support and donations.
